Rebecca Ann “Madame” Brown

BROWN, Rebecca Ann 51, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, August, 24, 2004, at The Kobacker Hospice, in Columbus, Ohio, after a strong, courageous, and remarkable time with leukemia.

Becky was born on December 13, 1952, in Springfield, Ohio, to Virginia (Neff) and Russell Raymond Schulte. She was a resident of Delaware after graduating from Ohio Dominican College in May, 1975.

Becky received her Master’s Degree from The College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a 1971 graduate of Springfield North High School.

“Madame” Brown was a French teacher at Marion Pleasant Local High School in Marion County, Ohio, from August, 1975 to June, 2004. Along with her husband Keith, and fellow French teacher, Mrs. Lynn Heine, she took groups of her French students on twelve wonderful trips to France from the Spring of 1977 to the Summer of 2004.  Becky was also an English Teacher at Pleasant.

Becky is survived by her loving husband, Keith Daniel Brown, and son Michael Joseph Brown of Delaware; mother Virginia (Neff) Schulte, and sisters Debbie Jean Schulte Mefford and Karen Marie Schulte of Springfield, Ohio; nephews Scott and Chris Mefford and families of Springfield, Ohio; mother- and father-in-law Ruth B. and Robert J. Brown of Columbus, Ohio; sister-in-law Karen Brown Rowe and son of Jamestown, New York; brother-in-law Gary Robert Brown and family of New Albany, Ohio; High School and College friends Bonnie Maxton-Harvey of Upper Arlington, Ohio, Nancy Holaday of Indianapolis, Indiana, Brad Campbell of Florida, Jim Grove and Father Mark Ghiloni of Newark, Ohio, Greg Jamieson of Atlanta, Georgia, Amy Hall Davis of Sunbury, Ohio, Joan Goth of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Brother Tom Carroll from the Cleveland, Ohio area; aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Springfield, Dayton, and Yellow Springs, Ohio area, and of Illinois and Tennessee.

She is also survived by her wonderful French students and their families, past and present faculty and staff of Pleasant Local High School, and her fellow French teachers throughout Central Ohio.

Becky was preceded in her passing by her father, Russell Raymond Schulte, and her older sister, Rita Ann Schulte.

Visitation was. at the ROBINSON FUNERAL HOME on 32 West Winter Street in Delaware, on Friday, August 27, 2004.

The Mass of Christian Burial was at Delaware St. Mary Catholic Church on 82 East William Street at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 28, 2004. The Rite of Christian Burial followed at the Delaware St. Mary Catholic Cemetery on South Sandusky Street.
