VERSAILLES, KY: Michael L. Landon, 60, died October 4 in Versailles, KY.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathleen (Benedict). Also survived by daughter, Kellie Hauenstein, son-in-law Reese Hauenstein (Lt. Col. USA); grandsons, Seth Michael and Reid Landon Hauenstein, of Huntsville, AL. Each was a source of great love and pride.

Michael grew up in Marion County, Ohio and graduated from Pleasant High School where he was an outstanding athlete, excelling in football, baseball and basketball. He remained an avid sports fan, competing in several marathons. A veteran of the US Army, Michael considered it an honor to serve. His 20-year career included service as a Field Artillery Officer, 82nd ABN Division (Master Jumper), Greek Linguist, and member of the Patriot Defense Missile Project Office. He earned a Master’s Degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology. Following his military service, Michael worked extensively as a government contracts manager. Michael and Kathleen were looking forward to moving into the home they had planned and built in Georgetown, KY.

Michael was predeceased by a son, Ben.

A private memorial service is planned. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association .
