Marjorie Virginia (Clark) Mooney

m-mooneyMARION: On Friday, February 19, 2010, after a brief illness, Marjorie Virginia (Clark) Mooney, 83, received her invitation to join her Lord and Savior. She was born in Marion, Ohio on May 31, 1926 to Pearl and Goldie (Dawson) Clark. Margie was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister. She never met a stranger and always had a smile and a friendly hello for all. Margie was a graduate of Marion City Schools. On January 8, 1942, she married Glenn E. Mooney, in Covington, KY. She was the loving mother of Starlett (Robert) James of Fayetteville, WV, Cathie Harrison of Seattle, WA, and Sue (Daniel) Wisebaker of Marion, Ohio, who mourn her passing.

During her childrens’ growing up years, she lead a Girl Scout Troop at Pleasant School. She was active in the PTA, the March of Dimes, the Heart and Cancer Societies and assisted her husband in their business, Mooney Plumbing and Heating. Margie loved flowers, music, reading, travel, and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her time in the Ramblin’ Roses Chapter of the Red Hat Society. Margie was a resident of the Marion Rotary Towers for 25 years, serving on the Towers’ Residents’ Board for several years. She also served as the Towers’ Band leader for 10 years and managed the Towers’ Craft Room for over 12 years directing several successful bazaars for the Towers.

Surviving grandchildren are David Olson of Seattle, WA, Brook Mooney of Columbus, Ohio, Michael (Victoria) Mull of Marion, Angela (Thomas) Ragaini of Sammanish, WA, Carrie (Jeffrey) Birney of Marion, Lori (Jody) Roberts of Marion, and Katherine (Aaron) Roberts of Seattle, WA; she had one great grandson, Ethan Birney of Marion who lovingly called her “GG”; Margie is also survived by two brothers, Dareld (Marcia) Clark of Chandler, AZ, and Ray (Barbara) Clark of Haines City, FL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn E. Mooney, Sr.; her sons, Glenn E. Mooney, Jr., and Michael A. Mooney; as well as four brothers, Louis (Jake), Lawrence, Paul and Donald Clark; three sisters, Helen Griffin, Polly Gantt, and Delores Millisor.

Arrangements by Boyd-Born Funeral Home with graveside service only at Marion Cemetery on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. The Reverend Robert James of Summerlee Wesleyan Church, Oak Hill, WV, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Marion General Hospice and/or the Marion Senior Center Endowment Fund.
Margie will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
