b-utleyPROSPECT: Brenda K. Utley, age 63, of Prospect, died Friday evening, June 27th, 2014, at Riverside Methodist Hospital following an extended illness.

On September 1, 1950, Brenda was born in Marion, Ohio, the daughter of the late Burlin Howard and Beulah (Jenkins) Howard Allinder. She graduated from Pleasant High School.

For 34 years, Brenda was a machine operator for the Boise Cascade Company in Marion, until 2009 when she had to retire because of her health. Shortly after starting at Boise Cascade she and her family moved to Prospect in 1979.

Brenda loved spending time with her beloved family, all of whom she often tried to get to go shopping with her in search of a great deal! Every year she looked forward to spending the 4th of July with them too, to watch fireworks and have a cookout. She cherished every moment of watching and caring for her young granddaughter, Emily, and she loved the companionship from her cat, Sadie.

A child at heart, Brenda had a silly and fun loving personality who loved to laugh. Then, once she started laughing, before you knew it everyone else would be bellied over laughing right along with her. She also was very easy going, not having a care in the world, and was open and honest with you whenever a care or concern did arise.

She will be dearly missed by her two children: Michele (fiancé Jason Jennings) Brown of Marengo, and Jeremy (Serena Jamison) Utley of Richwood; nine grandchildren: Kasey, Ashley, Megan, Alex, Emily, Elric, Kyle, Bree and Gage; one great-grandson, Michael; a brother, Mike Howard of Marion; three sisters: Wanda (Richard) Painter of Marion, Deborah (Steven) Porturica of St. Augustine, FL, and Terry Davis of Forest, OH; numerous nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Gene Utley of Prospect.

Including her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by three brothers: Darrell “Johnny” Howard, David Howard, and Bobbie Allinder.

Her family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 3rd, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her family and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
